Specific Tools to Use With Students
This page will highlight certain tools. Most can also be found under

This tool allows students to build 'word clouds'. Tagxedo is similar but
can build word clouds in specific shapes. For ideas on how to use this tool,
take a look at this slideshow.
Create a poster with words, audio and video. There is an educational version-
-check the bottom of the page.
A good site for Grade 2 and up. Lots of ways to make stories, posters ,etc.
You can register your class and use the teacher options.
Take some time and review this site. There are some good writing ideas
and you can even register you class with an author. Science, Social
Studies and Math activities are also included.
This is a good tool for students to use when doing a research project.
Animoto takes your photos and turns them into an interesting video. Good
for projects and research. Check the bottom of the first page for education
versions.
Although the British accent is a little heavy, I like this program for younger students. It will help
with the basics and, of course, students can practise at home.

In an effort to encourage students to use picturese that are free and legal, here are some sites to
use. This is a good time to remind students about copyright issues and
laws. CyberSmart includes some copyright information as well as online manners and safety.
